Old school stories for today’s readers

Wondering what people who have already read the book think about it?
Readers become learners ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Miss Missy’s School is a wonderful story with something for people of any age, making this a great book to read all together. Readers become learners with Bernstein’s unique inclusion of asides for learning history, philosophy, and vocabulary, among other things. Young readers are taught the significance of various phrases and cultural artifacts, and older readers are reminded of all the neat things we have done throughout history. Overall a very fun book.
So much fun and also full of mindsets that make you think ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Wholly charmed by Miss Missy, I was caught unawares by a book unique in many dimensions. Not just a child’s book, though children will indeed love it for the dogs’ adventures, surprisingly it is also a book for adults who think about how to teach, either formally or en passant. More broadly, it appeals to anyone with a sense of humor, a delight in life in all its oddities, and a joy in discovery of motley facts. Its reassuring everyday quality raised my brain’s levels of oxytocin (feel calm chemical), tempered by a whimsical quality where dogs talk and organize a school, having a few missteps in the process. Just brilliantly done — and — brilliantly illustrated.
This isn’t just an ordinary animal story ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The story is well written and very unique! The development of each character engages kids and is told from a unique perspective – this isn’t just an ordinary animal story. Marica breathes imaginary life into each one of her farm’s pets with excellence, and the book is certain to engage the imagination of everyone who reads it.

Missy herself wrote the blurb for the back of the book:
Dear Children and Their Grownups,
Two of my people have created a book just for you— readers who long for a story of a different sort. In our tale there are no dragons for heroes to slay, or worlds for wizards to save. It’s simply the story of how my pack and I came to realize we needed a school for all the animals on our farm who wanted to learn and teach from those great books of knowledge passed down to us through… Oh, sorry! Marica says I run on sometimes. Back to our story. Mighty were the challenges we faced! It’s not easy starting a school. But in the end, teamwork, perseverance, and creative thinking paid off.
I know you’ll love our story! We are an entertaining pack, and with our people, an endearing family. But I must warn you. Though Marica wants you to make new friends and enjoy our little adventures, she also wants you to learn a few things. You may have never heard of some of these, so she explains them along the way.
I wish I could tell you more, but I must get back to that lesson plan for The Jungle Book. It’s not writing itself, you know. See you inside!
Love, Missy
